Description

A different kind of an astronomy picture: Midnight Sun at the North Cape (71°10' N), the northernmost point in Europe you can reach by car (a 5h hike brings you 1.5 km further north on the neighboring peninsula). Images are taken every 5 minutes at f=135mm starting at 23h35. Around 12am it got pretty crowded but people disappeared very soon thereafter, so that at actual mid"night" (about 0h26) it was already pretty empty. In a couple of days, the Sun will touch base again with the artic ocean at midnight.

I was pretty lucky getting one of the  sunny days/nights (earlier the week I was clouded out, last year got pretty nice skies, but again the sun behind clouds), the clouds stayed below the 360m high rock (which made the drive back at 2am interesting). "Golden hour" basically lasts from 9pm to 3am.  In a couple of days, the Sun will touch base again with the artic ocean at midnight.

Data was taken on July 26/27
